The reign of Romanov dynasty is often considered as the Golden Age of Russia. At that time the Russian Empire has reached its peak in terms of territory and wealth. The luxurious lifestyle of the Tzars has become a legend. Today we can admire the magnificence of the royal palaces and villas, best known of them the Winter Palace in St.Petersburg (nowadays the Hermitage Museum) and Livadia Palace in Crimea, where the Yalta Conference of the leaders of United States, Great Britain and Soviet Union took place at the end of the Second World War. This tour allows the interested traveller to see the highlights of the Romanov's imperial capital St.Petersburg as well as the treasures of their favorite holiday place - Crimea.


 

 

The program of the tour:


 
Day.1   

Arrival in St.Petersburg. Traditional Russian Bread & Salt welcome at the airport. Transfer to the hotel. Check-in. Sightseeing tour of the city. Dinner in a city restaurant.


Day 2Breakfast. The tour of the sights not included into the previous city tour. Visit to the Peter & Paul fortress. Lunch in a city restaurant. The tour of the Hermitage Museum, including the gala and private rooms of the Winter Palace, the most famous winter residence of the Russian tsars. Dinner in a city restaurant.

 
Day 3Breakfast. Trip to Pushkin (known as 'Village of the Tsars'), to visit the summer residence created by the Empress Elizabeth and Catherine the Great. The tour of the Catherine's Palace. Designed by Rastrelli in the Russian baroque style, the magnificent palace, with its famous Amber Room, is an impressive post-World War II reconstruction. Proceed to Pavlovsk. While more humble and less touristy than the palace at Pushkin, the stylish classical palace of the Emperor Paul is still very interesting and the park is a great place to walk, especially in winter. The reconstructed palace is famous for its outstanding collections of chinaware, tapestries, clocks and exquisite samples of the 18th and 19th centuries' furniture. Lunch in a Russian restaurant. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner at the hotel.

 
Day 4Breakfast. Visit to the Palace of the Grand Prince Vladimir. Transfer to the airport. Flight to Simferopol, the capital of the Crimea (lasts for about 3-hours). Transfer to the sea-side city and resort of Yalta (about 80 km away from), accompanied by a local tour-escort. Check-in. Dinner at the hotel.

 
Day 5Breakfast. Tour of the Great Livadia Palace. Built for the last Russian Emperor Nicholas II in 1911, this Italian-styled summer residence is also known as the seat of the historic Yalta conference called by the Allies in February 1945 to outline post-war Europe's conformation. Lunch in the Tsar's Cuisine restaurant, which is a replica of the room in the Frederick's Palace in Yalta. Dinner at the hotel.

 
Day 6Breakfast. Trip to Alupka to visit the fantastic park and the palace built in 1840 for the count Vorontsov, the governor-general of the Crimea. Visit to the royal wine cellars. Lunch in a city restaurant. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner at the hotel 

 
Day 7Breakfast. Trip to Faros. The name of the resort became world-known in August 1991 when the leaders of the anti-perestroika putsh kept Michail Gorbatchov isolated for several days at his residence there. Visit to the local Cathedral. Return to Yalta. Lunch in a city restaurant. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner at the hotel.

 
Day 8Breakfast. Trip to the suburban settlement of Massandra, renowned for excellent wine cellars and the famous Massandra port. Tour of the palace at Massandra (1884), known as 'hunter's lodge' of the Russian Emperor Alexander III. Lunch. Visit to the Nikitsky botanical gardens. With their 3500 specimens, the gardens cover the area of about 1400 acres and are among the world's most famous. Dinner at the hotel.

Day.9   

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport. Flight back home (via St. Petersburg, or Moscow, or Kiev).


 
Recommended period for travel: from mid-July to mid-October. The price of the tour is quoted by request.
