Sky Express enters domestic flights market29.12.2006 |
According to Sky Express managing director Marina Bukalova, Russia's first economy-class air company will launch its first flights by the end of this year. The company is going to buy 18 Boeing - 737 aircrafts for transporting nearly three and a half million passengers by the end of 2008. Based in Vnukovo airport in Moscow, the company is planning to perform domestic flights to St.Petersburg, Tumen, Rostov-on-Don, Murmansk, Ekaterinburg, Volgograd, Kaliningrad, and Samara. In spring and summer, the company will also perform flights to the popular Caucasian spa-resorts Anapa, Sochi, and Mineralnye Vody. According to Alexander Shvartskopf, the partner of Altima Capital fund, Sky Express is planning to invest around $ 70 million in its developing, out of which million has been already invested. Besides Altima Capital fund, among Sky Express shareholders are Russian and foreign private persons, including Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich. In addition, Alexander Shvartskopf said that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is going to consider very soon the issue of becoming a Sky Express shareholder and investing million in company's developing.
