The economical slump brought good news for the Russian domestic tourism market. The internal tourism rose by 8.5% in some regions up to 15%.
The increase came as 1,5 ml Russian tourists due to economic uncertainty have chosen to travel within their own country rather then going abroad.
Some of the city dwellers travelled within 200 km from their metropolises to spend time at the countryside.
Up to 1 mln people travelled to Altay this year, among them 450 000 came with their own cars. Mountainous Republic of Altay is widely regarded in Russia and abroad as the place of unique unspoiled beauty, kind of "Russain Alps". For the automobile tourists the region's authorities have created guarded parking places and camping sites.
This year 471 object of tourist infrastructure was built in Russia, 439 of them are hotels, hostels and guest houses with capacity of accommodating 64 thousands travellers.
