Conveniently located on the Square of Arts, just off Nevsky prospect, this restaurant is named after Ostap Bender, a popular character of two books, "The 12 chairs" and "The Golden Calf", written by the Soviet satirists Ilf and Petroff in the 30-es of the last century. The books are full of aphoristic humor and expressions that are still widely used by Russians. No wonder that the golden statue of Ostap was chosen as the main prize of Russia's annual Humor and Satire Festival. The stature of the legendary adventurer is mounted at the restaurant's entrance attracting general attention of locals and city's guests.
