Razguliay
The square that is near the restaurant got its name 'Razguliay' in XVII century because of the pubs situated here. That time the place was a tzar road along which the empress Anna Ioanovna rode to Rubtsovo-Pokrovskoye, Izmailovo, Lefortovo. At the same time noble gentlemen and merchants started building luxurious palaces and stone houses in the square. A lot of historic events and names are connected with the square. In the church Bogoyavlenskogo cathedral Alexandr Sergeevich Pushkin was baptized. The building next to the church - two stored house - is connected with the name of Anna Mons - Peter the first lover. Here there was a sun clock and clock masters used them to know the exact time. That time first shops , pubs and famous in Moscow czar 'kruzhalo' - a tavern where all the merchants came to discuss events - appeared. Now the modern restaurant Razguliay that is situated on the former merchants' way place in redecorated mansion where there had been a monastery before tries to keep the traditions of old Moscow restaurants. Thanks to the rich historic past Razguliay managed to save original color and atmosphere of merchant Moscow of XVII century. In the interior of the restaurant Russian traditional art is reflected - Khokhloma, gzhel, beresta. Traditions are not only in the interior but also in the menu. Okroshka and borsch with pies, special meat Razguliay and sturgeon monastery style, delicious pies and pancakes with different fillings, fried pig and lamb leg - all is classic for big Russian feast. And one can't imagine a feast without traditional Russian drinks! Besides ancient Russian vodka Spotikach that was made in Ivan the Grozniy times, the restaurant has its own kvas, medovukha, sbiten that is cooked according to an old recipe only in Razguliay.
