The House of the Boyars Romanov
The house was built in 1567. The house itself is a low building with thick walls and small windows. It is famous for the birthplace of Michail Romanov - the first tsar of the Romanov's dinasty. In 1859 the house was reconstructed by architect Richter who added stairways, galleries and a small superstructure. This mansion now houses chattels of the 17th to 19th century. Behind it stands the Monastery of the Apparition. When the Romanov house was vacated by its owners, it was taken over for use as the residence of the abbot of the monastery.
