Located at the intersection of the Fontanka river embankment and the Nevsky Prospect, the palace was built in the midle of the 19th century for the affluent aristocratic family of Beloselsky-Belozersky. Designed in stylized Russian baroque and Empire styles, the palace nowadays houses the city's public cultural center and is known as one of the most beautiful residences of St.Petersburg.
